Summary
A whumptober prompt I finally got around to finishing in an AU of an AU I created. Technically a D&D AU, but absolutely no knowledge whatsoever is needed to understand this, I pinky swear.

Sapnap is a part of the Dream Team- a trio of bounty hunters who specialize in killing monsters that masquerade as humans. An encounter with their most recent bounty, a changeling going by the name Karl, left him questioning whether what he knew about these "monsters" was the truth.
After discovering Sapnap's wavering faith, Dream turned on him, casting him out. Sapnap didn't know where else to go than the base of their greatest nemesis- Las Nevadas.
Quackity and co. specialize in saving non-humans from cruel treatment, pulling them from bad situations and giving them asylum. Karl is one of their newest charges, and Sapnap one of their newest enemies.

TLDR: Sapnap is a monster hunter who thinks maaaybe Dream lied about who the real monster is. Quackity is against calling thinking, feeling people monsters and decided to do something about it. Sapnap doesn't know who else to go to when he's attacked and thrown out for helping Karl escape.

They said a string of words as they straightened up, the “safe” one peppered in, and then- they reached for Ranboo’s extended, exposed arm. There was nothing he could do, nowhere to run. He squeezed his eyes shut.

Aka, in an alternate backstory to a dnd au I'm writing with my sibling, Ranboo is sold to a human lab when his captors realize they can't harness his teleportation powers for themselves. Las Nevadas takes offense to the idea of any living creature trapped in such a cruel environment, so when they're already in the area and realize there's a kid in there they swoop in to save the day.
Slight problem- no one knows what the fuck Ranboo is or how to get him home. Hurt/comfort and found family ensue as little by little the learn how to communicate. Think of this like an alien abduction au but instead of sci-fi it's fantasy.

Summary
Tommy thought he could get away. He thought wrong. After Dream catches him during an escape attempt and apparently, finally, deemed him to be more trouble than he's worth, Tommy is sentenced to death by... well, whatever kills him first, really. The only way out is for someone to save him, and he highly doubts that's possible.
If there was ever a time to be glad he was proven wrong, the time is now.

Summary
