Summary
Jeanie Olivia York. That was the name written in the documents. She roamed the halls of the Ministry, gently cradling a cup of warm coffee with cream. Her mouth had been pulled back into a permanent smile by surgery, her plain brown eyes obscured by swirly goggles. Like the other advocates, she was dressed in the black, white and yellow that was the dress code; white, wavy hair with a black streak, still short from the last time she’d had brain surgery, yellow suspenders running over a cute little black blouse to hold up a high-waisted yellow skirt, long black boots going up to her calves. Though everyone’s outfit was a little different, unique to their tastes and jobs, they all thought mostly the same thoughts, thoughts of happiness, of obedience and servitude, of spreading these thoughts and laughing, their personalities only barely showing through. They all chanted and laughed together in small groups, they all smiled and stared with spirals in their eyes, they all went through life without a care in the world.
