Drawing in a sharp, steadying inhale, he pressed his back against the cracked wall, ears twitching at the slightest creak. With cautious steps, he crept forward and leaned just enough to peek from his shadowed refuge—eyes scanning the fractured corridor ahead.
No clatter of shifting debris. No dragging breath lurking nearby. The path appeared clear.
With a silent nod to himself, DogDay pushed forward, intent on heading straight back to their safe shelter.
Yet the silence does not mean safe.
Within its stillness, he dwells, who they are up against—can so efficiently skulk around the obscured corridors.
