    It takes him only a moment to realize what can help, Batman shakes his head and huffs in a way that almost sounds like a laugh.

    "Here, you sentimental bastard," Batman mutters the words in an almost breathless whisper, and the insult in the words never fully lands.

    Much less when Batman guides Superman's hand towards his chest, pressing his palm to his ribcage, breathing in deeply—one, two times—until his breathing evens in a soft rise and fall of his chest.

    Something stirs deep within Superman, something he knows.
