“i’m sorry,” you manage to say, and your voice sounds foreign in your ears, raspy and lilting. the words feel strange on your tongue, too, the effort it takes to force them out unfamiliar.
“no, no, marcy, it’s okay, please don’t apologize.” ms. boonchuy says, insistfully, and she blurs forwards again to take one of your hands. her own hands are warm, comforting. “i’m just glad you’re okay, you don’t have to say sorry to me anymore.”
“no,” you shake your head - or attempt to, because everything is still stiff and leaden and the muscles protest wearily when you try - because she doesn’t understand, she doesn’t know. “i… i’m sorry, but i don’t… who are you?”

Summary
Grime talks. He talks and schemes and plans, but each word, whether serious or cruel or joking, she barely registers. Just lets the noise of it wash over her, a buzz in the back of her brain as she stares out across the dark of the wilderness. Tomorrow, she promises to herself, tomorrow she will listen, tomorrow she too will talk and scheme and plan, as is her nature. Tomorrow she will spin some overly dramatic plan that will lead her back on top, crown in hand, Amphibia at her feet. Tonight, she just feels empty.

She taps the side of her skull, using that same hand to point at Marcy, and it could be the tiredness, or early morning hallucinations, but Sasha in the dawn light looks so cocky, so smug, and so damn pretty, that Marcy wishes she just stayed in her hoodie cocoon for the rest of the day, maybe year, because she’s sure in that moment that she’s got it bad.

When he finally opens the door, Sasha hears him gasp a bit, and she immediately thinks, danger. Her sword is here, luckily, placed on the floor underneath where she rests, and she shoves her hand below in an attempt to lay her hands on the hilt. She pushes herself off of the futon once she grabs ahold of the sword completely, and heads in a run toward the door.
She’s utterly and completely confused when she sees Marcy Wu, in her gray pajamas, crossbow still attached to her forearm, geeking at Grime like he’d told the funniest joke, standing in their doorway.
