Chased out of Eden, life is a collage of hunger and pain, torment ordained by God in jealous anger. The world is too big to see the soul's true reflection, too vast to hear your voice's sure and honest echo.
I grope for meaning blind, reaching after the threads of destiny spun while I was still in the womb. I am in thrall to a lover who no longer exists. I pine for food that is no longer grown. I am drunk with lust for motion and desire. I stagger through a dreamtime of death made absurd in pointless inevitability.
I drift in darkness where life and death both lose their purchase on the soul.
In this purgatory of sand and heat, I raise prayers for a dead woman who still wears my skin.
