Summary
“I think you know how I feel about you.” Satoru’s voice is careful, as if he’s afraid of startling him. The rain falls faster. “I don’t think that will ever go away. I would never force you to stay here–if you chose to never see me again, I wouldn’t stop you. But I don’t want you to leave.”
How can Satoru say that to him? The words feel cruel, even if they weren't meant that way.
“I’ll stay. Not for long.” He turns around. Satoru is staring at him as if he’s never seen anything else. “Let this be my last kindness to you. We both know there wasn’t much of that before I left.”Three years after Getou Suguru left behind both Jujutsu High School and his best friend, he finally lets himself believe that he's severed any ties between him and his past. However, that quickly changes when he dials Satoru's number in a moment of weakness - trying to leave Satoru for the second time feels a lot harder than the first. He's not sure if it's possible, or if he even wants to.

Time passed. Nothing happened.
“Hey,” Satoru’s voice came much closer than it was moments before, his breath puffing against Suguru’s ear. It was gentle and quiet in a way Suguru did not know was possible– the rawness of it scared him. “Suguru, you’re crying.”

“Move aside, Satoru.” His voice is empty and cold and Satoru thinks he sounded the same when he asked to kill those cultists clapping for Riko's death.
He doesn’t budge. “Don’t. You’ll regret it.”
“I’ll regret it if I don’t kill them right now. So move aside.” He says it more firmly this time but to no avail.
“You said it yourself, there is no point in killing them and as jujutsu sorcerers it’s very important to have a reason.” Satoru tries to sound as convincing as Suguru did back then.
Or: Suguru isn't alone on that fateful mission, he doesn't kill the villagers and it changes the course of things dramatically.
