“You shouldn’t get information from eavesdropping.” Carol's voice is deliberately measured out, like she’s using the space between words to think. “We talked about this. Remember how it means there’s always something missing -“
Daryl feels slightly ridiculous, hovering by the door like he is. Eavesdropping like some kid -
“But - Daryl’s my friend.” Sophia’s voice is small in a way that breaks Daryl’s heart. He barely stops himself from bursting in and swearing to it - he’s eavesdropping, after all. That means there’s something he’s missing; some reason busting in might not be a good thing.
“Of course he is,” Carol says. “That’s still true. He’s just my friend, too. You knew that.”
“Boyfriends aren’t friends.”
_____________________________Eventually, he and Carol were going to have to tell Sophia about them. Daryl knew that. He just didn't think the conversation would go like this.
