The kawarimi that Jiraiya manages to get off is sloppy and rushed. Orochimaru would be laughing at him if he were here to witness it – and he’d be right to. Jiraiya nearly plants his face straight into a tree as he overloads the jutsu. But it’s fast. And that’s what saves his life.
An ear-splitting explosion detonates in his wake as what must be fifty, maybe a hundred exploding tags go off simultaneously…
There’s a fifty foot crater where he was standing just seconds ago.
And, somewhere along the way, he’s lost the bells.
It’s not cool to gape, but—well, a genin two years fresh from the Academy just tried to murder him. Like, full-on, premeditated, planned and executed murder. More disturbingly, the brat nearly succeeded.
Between that and the kawarimi bullshit, Jiraiya’s blown straight past impressed and straight into concerned.
“Shit, Azusa,” Jiraiya breathes. “What were you teaching this kid?” -

In direct contrast, a nervous little man, a customer, cornered Burkhardt as soon as Jansen was out of sight.
... Hotch considered the fact that the weaker man on the social ladder considered the detective as safe while the man in charge most definitely had the opposite view.A nice but sadly unfinished crossover story. Don't require deep understanding of either series. Part 2 is nice.
