Of all the things that could have foiled Jonathan’s plans for Halloween night, he at least expected a police ambush, the Batman finding his location, or even his gas bombs malfunctioning— anything except the flu.
So because of such an oversight, or perhaps unfortunate happenstance, the Scarecrow had to spend his Halloween evening sniveling and seething on his sickbed, with no one but the Mad Hatter to take care of him.
