"Is someone going to tell me what's going on?" Buck wonders. The others look to Eddie, who rolls his eyes at having been summarily chosen to be the spokesperson.
"In my defense," Eddie begins. "I did tell them you would probably hate this."
"You're such a chicken," Ravi groans. "Buck, you're still moping. Either call Tommy or…"
Buck raises an eyebrow as Ravi trails off. Apparently, even he is reluctant to say what the 'or' is. So it must be really bad.
"Or," Hen picks up, looking hesitant but resolute about it. "We put your name down for a queer speed dating event on Thursday night."
"No thank you," Buck says instantly, because absolutely not.

You’re cordially invited to the wedding of Aria and Jack.
Tommy stares at the words glowing on his screen, letting their weight settle in. The little girl who used to beg him for piggyback rides and hold court with her dolls and stuffed animals—she’s getting married? That has to be a mistake. Aria Kinard is five years old. Or at least, that’s how he remembers her. And five is far too young to get married.
He blinks twice. Then three times. Hoping he’s misread the email. But when he opens his eyes, the words remain—unchanged and irrefutable.
His niece, whom he hasn’t seen or heard from since before the pandemic, is getting married. He and a guest are invited. A note at the bottom reveals the wedding will take place just outside Atlanta, along with a number to call to RSVP.
At first, Tommy feels a rush of excitement at the thought of seeing Aria again. But the thrill quickly fades, replaced by a familiar dread. Attending the wedding means facing the very people he’s spent the last fifteen years avoiding.
As the weight of that realization presses down, he wonders: should he skip the event—or is it finally time to confront the past he’s been running from?
