He seems surprised by that, lifting his gaze from the gym bag he hasn’t picked up yet and taking a few moments to stare at her. “I didn’t,” he says flatly.
Reimi stares at him as he stares at her. Then, he reaches to rub the back of his neck, breaking their gaze again. He swallows and clears his voice. “I mean, you’re welcome.”

"When Karamatsu presented as an alpha, everyone was surprised.
No, let me rephrase that. Osomatsu, Osomatsu was surprised. Osomatsu was livid; he didn't want another alpha around. Even if he hadn't presented as an alpha yet, he knew he would, and the idea that we would have to fight for authority was revolting. He was the rightful leader, and Karamatsu was a threat to that."
A story in which Karamatsu is trying his best to fill role he was never raised to do.
