Summary
“Did Armin like it?” The question, so unlike Mikasa but reflecting her straightforwardness, caught Annie off guard, and her ears turned warm, something like rare embarrassment in her otherwise numb body spreading.
“What?”
The rag returned, warm again, lowering towards the end of Annie’s aching spine. As if almost soothing her. Annie shivered.
“I…didn’t expect someone like you wanting to know,” Annie then admitted, drifting off, having been forced into a corner, and she exhaled, subconsciously relaxing when the cloth wandered back up between her shoulder blades again.
“What doesn’t make me qualified to want to know?” retorted the cool voice, and Annie visibly dropped her shoulders, somehow more comfortable with Mikasa’s usual stoicism and low tone. She recalled, dryly, the obvious affection Mikasa had for Eren, especially the surge of possessiveness over him when Annie had attempted to take Eren away.

Summary
“Say, Naruto…what sort of flowers would you give your girlfriend?”
Naruto blinked, his hands tucked lazily behind his head as he shuffled his legs. “Huh? What do you mean?”
“Why are you asking him, he doesn’t even have a girlfriend —“ Kiba’s obnoxious response came right away, without letting Naruto reconsider the question coming from Shikamaru, who scratched at his neck, peeved, his overwhelmed attitude of someone who wasn’t used to gifting women, or gifting anyone for that matter.
Naruto huffed, and turned to Kiba, falling back easily into his provocative remarks and Choji’s nonchalant agreement, while shoving another thin piece of chip into his mouth. “I don’t have a girlfriend yet, but I know damn well enough what women would like unlike you —“

Summary
He placed his remaining hand at the corner of the granite, his head devoid of any thought, as he felt his heart ripping out of his chest. The pain was indeed excruciating, was his vacant mind attempting to gather letters into words and intellectualize his emotions.
It was unbearable. His trembling fingers tightened on the cold granite, then focused his chakra blindly down his arm. He tugged on it, his expression hollow and far-away, as he began to lift up the heavy stone, flat across the grave, and it rumbled, and cracked.
Throwing the entire ledger stone off to the side, it made a loud, groaning sound he paid no mind to, as his heartbeat quickened. In excitement, he didn’t know.
Soil, was all Sasuke’s mismatched eyes could tell, and he reached out, methodically digging his fingers into the cold, dry dirt.

Summary
“Sasuke…” Naruto murmured, sitting up with a small groan, his entire neck down to the slope of his shoulders aching from the constant positioning over the desk. “You’re back,” he rolled his aching shoulders, forcing his burning eyes open.
“Don’t move,” he could hear the low voice order near the window, and Naruto’s chest warmed, giddiness building up inside of him. He forced himself to raise his heavy head, watching the tall, rather uncanny figure come up to him before pressing him firmly against the soft bed.
A surprised, muffled gasp escaped Naruto’s mouth, as he stared up into two rather hypnotizing eyes, the angle exposing the sharp crimson of the rinnegan which the silver moon lit up its purple color significantly. It left Naruto speechless, for a moment.
“Go back to sleep.”
“How’d the mission go?” Naruto asked in a rough-edged whisper, despite the clear instruction to rest, and Naruto watched the way dark eyes flickered over his face as Naruto stubbornly refused to lie down. Naruto tried to muster up a slow grin, a bit awkward at its edges with the hope to soften Sasuke up a bit and allow him to get back to work.

Summary
The soft crunch of crystal snow could be heard underneath Sasuke’s shoes as he approached Naruto, enough to be hidden away from the gaze of outsiders, shadows engulfing them both now.
“How was everything? I mean, outside the village,” Naruto heard himself start, scratching at his head, not exactly knowing how to word himself properly. He avoided looking at Sasuke for too long.
He felt Sasuke’s inexplicable gaze on him, before a low response came, “It was fine,” then his eyes diverted again and Naruto let out a shaky exhale. As dry as ever, the bastard. Naruto inflicted pain on the inside of his arm by twisting the thin skin there, hoping to snap out of his weird behavior. Still, he was giddy, as well, his heart speeding up.
“How long will you be staying?” Naruto heard himself ask the first proper question since the moment he saw Sasuke tonight after several months of his absence. After all, he had let him leave the village again, to reflect on himself and his surroundings, as Sasuke had implied, and Naruto had understood. He couldn’t have been stopped even when Naruto had wanted to.
