Summary
"For all that sometimes Lucius almost feels feral, he lies open beneath him in that moment, and Acacius finds him pliant. He lets Acacius do as he wants with him. He's vulnerable like this, bare and exposed, weaponless with his tunic rucked up his belly. Here is his young emperor, panting, naked, falling apart."
There's a lot of shame in having his dead wife's son in his bed. There's a lot of pleasure to be had, too.

Summary
Both of Bradley's parents are dead when his soulmark finally creeps on him, but he's not Rooster just yet. He's still Bradley, awkward, gangly, tall Bradley Bradshaw, and he plays baseball and tries his best in school and spends his free time daydreaming about college and the ROTC. He's seventeen, and that's a little late for a soulmark to appear, but Mav got his mark when he was twenty, so it never really bothered him that all his peers got theirs already.
Jake Seresin.
He doesn't know these two words will come back to bite him in the ass, yet. For now, he's contented the universe has someone in mind for him, whoever this Jake Seresin may be.

Summary
"Soap is a firm believer that opposites attract, and Soap sees Ghost for the first time that night, looks at him all sullen and stoic and stock-still, and instead of scattering away like a mouse in front of a cat (and Ghost is definitely the cat. No actually, Ghost is more a wolverine, or a bear, or something equally predatory and nasty like a cassowary or whatever), Soap cozies himself right up in the man’s space and decides yeah – this is the one for me."
Ghost may be a little slow on the uptake, but Soap's been sure on where he stands since the very beginning.

Summary
A gasp tears her attention away from assessing her pack of women to the end of the rig, where an apparition has made itself known.
A mirage.
There’s a man there. And he’s pointing a shotgun at them. There’s a light breeze across the barren land and Furiosa subtly scents the air. She catches the copper of blood, the stench of warboys, but his scent is strangely faint, muted. And he isn’t drenched in the overwhelming miasma of that awful paint Joe’s half-lives like to coat themselves in.
*
Or: Furiosa is an alpha trying to bring her pack of women to the Green Place. Max is surviving in a world that has forgotten there is such a thing as male omegas. They make unfortunate first impressions upon each other.

Summary
"They had a strained conversation after mail call, all those months ago, walking slowly across the barren, muddy ground, and John wouldn’t look at him when he told him he was afraid that people would only ever know the person he was becoming.
Gale could see it hanging over him, then: the spectre of the person John thought so diminished and so unworthy of being known. The person he was so afraid of becoming. And Gale thought, back then ‘what kind of person would not want to know every aspect of him? What kind of person would not love every version of this man?’"
...
Or: Gale, through it all.
