Summary
“ Nico approaches him with shaking hands, he carefully places his left hand on Lewis’s right knee and Lewis feels burnt by the wedding ring on Nico’s finger. “I’m sorry.” Nico whispers, “But that’s the only way we might survive this, otherwise..” He trails off and his gaze runs up to the ceiling.
Lewis isn’t directly looking at him, Lewis is staring blankly at Nico’s hand on his knee. His own hand comes up to hold it, he doesn’t have enough energy left to stop himself so he just takes Nico’s hand in his and runs his thumb over the harsh knuckles.
Nico’s eyes blink at the sensation, he hazily stares at their joint hands and the way Lewis uses his actions to sooth them both without saying a word. A million different thoughts run through Nico’s mind but in that moment none of it matters.
All that matters, is here and now, and that is Lewis choosing to hold onto them just as much as he is trying to. It makes his heart flutter to know they’re one and the same, that even in pain they are equals. He finally gets the courage to reach out and hold Lewis’s face with his other hand. “
