In which Philip is getting married and asks Henry to be his best man. Henry very reluctantly agrees, but what he absolutely does not agree to is being the one stuck dealing with all of the tasks that Philip “simply does not have time for.”
The one thing that his brother did manage to do was hire a wedding planner, Alex, who's not only extremely charming and, well…much too handsome than what should be considered humanly possible but who, for some reason, seems to be doing everything in his power to make the situation more bearable for Henry. What starts out as a bond over their mutual annoyance with Philip and his outrageous requests turns into something completely unexpected and much deeper, and for once, Henry might just have to indulge himself.

“Seems like my liege was caught in a situation where he’d rather the ground swallow him whole.” Pez nods towards a spot to the side, and Alex follows his gaze. He spots Henry easily – a tall lighthouse of tousled blond hair – talking to a girl who is clearly into him. His expression looks perfectly polite, but he’s subtly leaning away, and he looks tense.
So, Alex makes an impulsive decision.
Whatever happens, this is going to be fun.

Or: Alex is so very definitely straight, so pretending to be Henry’s boyfriend to get him out of an awkward situation should just be a fun little pastime - except that he doesn't really want to stop, and he has no idea why. But maybe it's okay to not think too hard and let himself go with the flow, for once.

So excuse him if he passes by Henry one night, both in pajamas and on their way to their respective rooms, both about to end their day at the same time, and his pinky slightly grazes against Henry’s right hip, immediately making him stop, whip around and stutter out, “H-Hey.”
It startles Henry—it startles Alex as well, Jesus—as he stumbles with his steps and turns around, eyebrows raised in surprise at the sudden break in peaceful silence in their apartment.
“Hey?” he replies.

Summary
Alex Claremont-Diaz fucking hates Valentine’s. He especially hates the stupid tradition of Valentine gram roses.
It was entirely torturous to watch the growing pile on Henry fucking Fox’s desk—his work nemesis and bane of his existence. The way his face flushed all prettily and his lips twitched upwards bashfully and that stupid twinkle in his eyes only nauseated Alex further. It made the whole ordeal feel significantly worse—and not because his own desk sat rose-less. He honestly might hate Henry Fox more than Valentine’s.
“Alex, we’ve gone over this. You can’t call your crush your work nemesis,” Nora says boredly from where she’s sat on Alex’s desk, rearranging his sticky notes in color order.

Alex hates Valentine’s, flowers, and Henry Fox, in that order. It doesn’t stop Henry from trying to romance him.

Nora is looking at him in that way that spells absolute trouble. He gives Pez a cursory glance, finding a smile so wide it threatens to split his face. June has her eyebrows high on her face and Bea is covering her mouth but the twinkle in her eyes says she’s fighting a laugh.
“What?” he asks, meeting Nora’s eyes again.
“Nothing, nothing. Just fascinated by your choice of chair,” she points out lightly.
Henry glances down and reality smacks him so thoroughly, he almost physically jumps off Alex’s lap. He barely twitches though, the arm around his waist keeping him anchored.

The first time he does it, he’s drunk and jealous. The second time, they’re both sober but it’s an emergency! The third time… Well… maybe it sort of becomes a thing. Alex doesn’t exactly mind. (aka the Lap Sitting Fic)
