Summary
Two years have passed since Madara left the village. When Hashirama sees him again, he isn’t expecting the babe on his hip.
The child stares at him with wide, frightened eyes, upset by the presence of an unmated, unfamiliar alpha standing close to her mother. She clings harder to Madara and buries her face in his body. Madara pats her back soothingly as he narrows his eyes, his spicy-sweet scent of woodsmoke and freshly sliced ginger gathering protectively around the babe.

Summary
Post-canon Madara travels back in time and leaves the village. Hashirama dedicates his life to finding him. Twenty-five years later, it’s not what he thought it’d be at all.
Or, Madara wakes up and leaves. Hashirama follows.
Hashirama approaches, and Tobirama still faces the kettle, refusing to turn and look at him. Who still doesn’t look at him once as Hashirama patiently explains his plan. I’ve decided to leave, he tells him. This way, I can find Madara and bring him back to the village, he says earnestly.
Tobirama shakes his head and turns around slowly, his eyes unreadable. Say you find him, he says. Say you find him and he says he doesn’t want to come back. What will you do then?
Hashirama stares at Tobirama. I will find Madara and bring him back to the village, he repeats.
Tobirama’s eyes narrow, and he gives an agitated shake of his head. “Disgraceful,” he mutters. “War is coming, and you choose to leave.”

Summary
In which Dabi has non-romantic Hanahki disease for his father.
Enji closes his eyes and Touya’s tearful face appears, startlingly clear in its clarity. He’s tightly grasping a yellow carnation, head tilted up to gaze at his father, teary eyes staring at him with utter devastation.
“I have,” Touya hiccups, “Hanahaki disease. Mom told me.” The tears overflow and run down Touya’s face as Enji silently stands there, staring uneasily at his eldest child, confused and unsure of what to do. Touya breaks into heartbroken sobs, and Enji still can’t bring himself to move. He just stares at his son.
Somehow, Touya survived Sekoto Peak. The Hanahaki survived with him.
Enji puts his head into his hands and weeps.

Summary
Not soon after the founding of the village, Madara develops Hanahaki Disease.
Madara coughs again, then again and again, unable to stop himself. Finally, the thing in his throat moves. As he coughs once more, it comes up out his throat. Out of reflex, Madara spits it out.
A petal, slender and startlingly white, flutters into Hashirama’s hand.
Madara would recognize those dainty, long petals anywhere.
It’s a Nippon daisy. Hashirama’s favorite.
Hanahaki, Madara thinks numbly, panic consuming his body. I have Hanahaki disease.
Hashirama’s horrified, frightened, devastated eyes meet his own, and Madara does the only thing he knows how to do.

They come to the end, to the foot of the pillar where a red banner-turned-shroud hides its horrible secret. Prince Beiyuan gently, gently removes the red cloth, and Chengling drops to his knees at the terrible uncovered sight.
His beautiful, beautiful Xiang-jiejie, resplendent in her wedding robes, eyes closed and mouth curved in a bitter smile. The golden crown in her hair hangs ever-so-slightly off-center, adding to the wrongness of it all. Beside her, Cao-dage’s head is turned at an unnatural angle towards his love, always seeking her even when his own body lies still.
Chengling chokes back a sob as he reaches for their hands, one in each of his. They’re still warm.
Chengling braids hair, builds a grave, and bids his sister and brother farewell. Missing scene for Episode 35.

“You know,” Senju Hashirama chirps, “I heard something interesting, the other day. Ah, maybe discovered is a better way to phrase it. I discovered something interesting the other day!”
There's something off about the man's smile; an edge to his boisterous laughter. There is no denying that the older man is an absolute powerhouse, no matter how much Izuna despises him. It's only, usually it doesn't feel like it. Senju's dark eyes fix on Izuna and it takes everything he has not to flinch away.
"Not curious? Aaah, I'll tell you anyway."
A broad hand on his chin, gentle but firm. The touch has stilled him, but it's Senju's next words that turn Izuna's blood to ice.
"I heard that you've been fucking my precious little brother."

The life of a shinobi is not kind or pleasant but, for most, it simply is. It’s a way of life, it’s the ebb and flow of a clan, it’s how things are and how they always will be. For others, it carves a void deep in their soul. Father used to say that they were too soft, eaten by life the way fire eats paper. Uncle said, once, that they were simply born missing something intrinsic, constantly searching for anything to fill the gaping spaces within them. Trying to stitch themselves together with other people, with violence, with purpose.
At least it explains his fixation on peace. Izuna wonders what’d happen if he finally achieved his long sought peace; wonders what the man would do, when he realised it couldn’t fix whatever’s absent inside of him.

Seeds are only produced after successful fertilization has occurred, in the fruit itself; the nearest equivalent to a seed in any plant-based metaphor should be the resulting zygote, not the initial sperm, and certainly not its role in the act of copulation itself. That is more the equivalent of pollen being introduced to the stigma and its path to the ovum, the successful combination of which produces the full fruit and its seeds.”

Next to her, Cao Weining was peeling prawns, sword-calloused fingers delving into the weak spots of its crusty armour. He nudged one, freshly-peeled, into her bowl, a plump comma curling, foetus-like, into the downy white of her half-eaten rice. Then, manoeuvring his chopsticks a little awkwardly with his oily hands, he picked up the offending okra pieces and deposited it into his own bowl. A very worthy trade, one that Gu Xiang certainly approved of. She beamed at him.
