Summary
So the thing about this part of the script? There’s a kiss in it.
Yeah. This is the part where Rui and Tsukasa are supposed to kiss.
When writing the script, Tsukasa thought it was a great idea. Something fun, magical, visually exciting, really cements that the two characters are in love. Rui liked it, too! In fact he seemed abnormally enthusiastic about the idea…which was great! Tsukasa liked getting Rui excited; that’s always when he did his best shows.
But now, face to face with the kiss (and also Rui’s face), Tsukasa felt his heart ramming around his whole body. It was kind of a good thing Rui was holding him because his legs definitely felt like jelly. Wait no, Rui holding him was the reason his legs felt like jelly in the first place.
In which Tsukasa Tenma tries to play a character but ends up being himself.

Rui’s gloved hand gives the impetuous cat’s head a small pet. “Who could that be, I wonder?”
Morticia leaps out of his lap and onto his bookshelf, tail flicking in annoyance. “There is no need to be coy. I can see every spell that stains your hands.” Instinctively, Rui’s hands clasp together, rotten skin scratching against rough white cotton. “You have been in love with the Rose Knight, Captain Tsukasa Tenma, for years now. Even now—perhaps especially now—you long for his smile.”
Rui stands, and avoids Morticia’s knowing eyes. “His smile, his kiss...I do seem rather preoccupied with his lips. And his heart.”After magic fails him, Rui wishes he could reconcile with his best friend and love of his life.

Tsukasa begins to doubt himself and their relationship, but a text from Nene reveals that maybe he should, uh, actually talk to Rui about it.
