Daryls never really felt love or affection before. He's learnt that love means inevitable pain and abandonment. Rick loves Daryl anyway and is determined to show him. He hesitates at first, not wanting to ruin their friendship, but one look at Daryl's eyes and Rick is smitten. He wont make the mistake of losing the rough hunter. That want clearly showed on his face. "Oh, someone’s really desperate for Lucille. I can't blame you, she is a force to be reckoned with." He paused. "Or, no... Desperate for someone else? I mean, you jumped out of line just like the guy with the wife..."

Every time I was forced to listen to the racket he and Marla made, I ended up picturing what it'd be like. I couldn't help myself. Cutting Marla out of the picture like a clumsy attempt at collage, pasting myself in instead. Tyler Durden, in that rough voice of his telling me how good I was doing, to keep at it, to fuck him harder. Those hands that had beat me into the concrete a dozen times touching me, holding me down. Tyler on his knees, Tyler with my hand in his hair, Tyler tipping his head back.
