If he were to enter class late, everyone would look up as he entered. About fifty sets of eyes staring, analysing, full of cold disgust and judgement- however, if he didn’t, Deren would be sure to give him a real scolding.
Deren the deadbeat, Connor called him; the boy had hated his stepfather since the moment the man made an appearance. Something about the fact that this man thought he had the right to replace his real father gave Connor a sense of spite he never knew he had.

‘You’re the one who saved me.’ Maxx smiled, looking down to see his blade; but it had been bluntened completely, and a tiny sketch of a stick figure and a fish creature holding hands was carved into the metal;
‘I know how you got that scar.’ Cody whispered, before pointing at the blade; ‘So now every time you look at the blade you can remember our friendship. And that I saved you from dying because I don’t want you to die.’

Lack of sleep had taken its effect on him, and he could finally see why Matt was so concerned; he should use make-up to cover the dark circles. He couldn’t have the poor ginger trailing around after him like a broken record, reminding the older male to eat and sleep.
