zack thinks back to the days where he didn’t know if he could keep going with cloud on his shoulder. he never once considered leaving him behind, even though he wasn’t quite sure why he’d been dragging him around after escaping the manor. he didn’t acknowledge his feelings until they were in the back of that yellow truck, when he reached over and held cloud upright as they drove along a rather bumpy section of dirt road.
his fingers gently brushed against cloud’s cheek, pushing his hair away. the mako poisoning hadn’t let up much then, but cloud has since told zack he was partially aware of his surroundings by that point. in a brief moment of panic, when the truck swerved enough to avoid a larger hole, zack reached out to ensure cloud wouldn’t fall over, and as soon as he felt calm again, he realized it.
all of it was for love— love that he had for cloud.

Summary
Throughout the year that Zack had been on the run with Cloud, he had slowly come to the realization that he meant more to him than just a friend. He would gladly give his life if it ever came to it. Had almost given his life. But now that they were in Midgar, Zack had no idea what to do. He had been on the run for so long Zack had forgotten how to exist without a mission of some sort. Maybe Aerith would tell him what he should do.
At least Cloud was awake. A Cloud who, without him realizing, can now hear his every thought. Every embarrassing, teenage worthy thought he had about his newfound love for the blonde.
Cloud just wished he could go a day without hearing how Zack thought he was as cute as a chocobo.
----
Alternate Universe where Zack survives, Cloud can now read his mind through Jenova brain voodoo, and Aerith and Tifa conspire to get their favorite boys together.

Leon’s a vampire—an outcast, much like Luis, but for different reasons. He never talks much about why his clan cast him out, just like Luis never talks about the pack that abandoned him. It doesn’t matter, really. They both know what it feels like to be unwanted, to be pushed aside because you don’t fit into the neat little boxes people want to put you in. But now, Luis feels like the outcast out of the two of them. The way Leon is able to hold himself in such a way—to control himself—makes Luis ache with envy and something else he can’t quite name.
