idk what this is, if i'm being honest. writing is my biggest coping skill for my anxiety, and with everything going on in the us right now, something was bound to be born in my google docs.
that being said, this work is political. it's me channeling my anxieties and beliefs into that of fictional characters and if that is not your jam or not something you want to read, pass this work right on by.
this work has no correlation with the beliefs and views of chicago pd, or tracy or jesse. i cannot stress enough how this is literally just me coping. hailey and jay aren't real so i don't have to write a disclaimer regarding their beliefs.
the only reason i'm sharing this one and not keeping it locked away in my drive is because i know i'm not alone in these fears. and if someone else can feel seen or understood through this, then i am gonna post it.
interpret this oneshot however you will, but that is my sufficient warning to you to not look too deeply into this and to avoid it if you don't want upstead to get political.

He should have known better than to let his mind drift, especially in the heat of a battle because before he could blink, a cold blade was pressed against his throat and a figure stepped out of the darkness.
‘Want to tell me what you are doing aboard my ship?’
There was no other words for it, the woman with her blade pressed to his neck was gorgeous.
But there was something more.
The blue eyes, so close to the colour of the ocean but with a lightness to them, like the water in the shallows, were familiar, like Jay had seen them somewhere before.
