Good.
Soobin himself had been desperate for months now, aching, agonizing over how he’d let it come to this. How he could’ve given his heart to someone so cruel. If Yeonjun was feeling even a modicum of guilt now, he would relish it.
Soobin wanted the feeling to poison him, wanted Yeonjun to choke on it.
Wanted the fox prince to feel it so painfully that it killed him.
Maybe then the other leader would feel even an ounce of what Soobin had felt every day since this damn war had started. When he had come to realize that he’d loved a fucking monster.

Summary
Soobin laughs in delight, crossing the room in two giant strides. He leans down to where Taehyun is crouched, bumping their foreheads in easy familiarity, before he nuzzles his face into the boy’s neck.
“You’re so fucking cute, kitten.” He sighs into the smooth skin there.
Then, right before pulling away, Soobin presses a gentle kiss to the base of Taehyun’s throat. The sensation burns right through his skin, causing an instant stream of sweat to accumulate. His heart flutters anxiously and his brain stutters, unable to comprehend the action without freaking out. Meanwhile, Taehyun outwardly remains still, his face a perfect picture of mild disgust.
“Hyung.” He says flatly, right into Soobin’s ear. “Get off me.”
“And don’t call me that.” He adds with a huff, making sure that the leader knows how disgruntled he is about it.
It’s all an act, carefully curated over the years to perfection.
Because Taehyun knows how to play the game. Knows how to act like he’s not interested, even when he is, in fact, in love with someone.
OR: Soobin is 70% legs, 30% dimples, and 100% everything that Taehyun has ever wanted.

“You peaked in highschool, by the way,” Yeonjun says lovingly, blowing him a kiss. He’s by the window that looks out into the woods, curtains pinned away with butterfly claw-clips. The setting sun hangs between his fingers, drowsy and blood red, acrid smoke curling up from the tip. Yes, Soobin thinks. An old star, sipping dark matter, smoking a comet or two. Greying around the corona. And no one comes to visit.
“I didn’t know you’d be here,” Soobin lies, setting Yeonjun’s scarf over the spinny chair.
(Or, roadtrips, reconciliations, and the retrograde ripeness of a red heart learning regret.)

Summary
Every time Soobin has his eyes on him, Yeonjun feels like he’s made out of a thin, opalescent glass. Completely fucking transparent. The waves crash behind them, in and out, whoops and hollers of rowdy youth, the heat radiating off the fire, suffocating. Soobin’s eyes look right through him.
He can feel his heartbeat, strong and fast against his ribcage.
Another lollipop.
A moment of silence, and then, “What flavor?”
He watches the flames lick up the logs in the pit, slowly eating away at their casing.
“Strawberry.”
(OR: Yeonjun is forced back into his hometown after being kicked out of university and a brief stint in rehab only to find that the boy he used to bully in high school grew up into everything he's ever needed)

“I’m sorry,” Soobin said as he placed a sytrofoam cup of black coffee between Yeonjun's feet and tried not to react to the way cigarette smoke stung his throat. “I shouldn’t have come to your house without asking. We’re coworkers and I completely stepped over—”
“No, you didn't. You didn’t do anything wrong... Listen, I–'' There was a heavy weight to Yeonjun’s voice suddenly, but Soobin didn't waver. “I didn’t want you to see any of that. I didn’t even want you to know where I live. Because I don’t– I just don’t want you to think of any of that stuff when you think of me. I don’t want you involved in any of that stuff.”
“Because we’re just coworkers,” Soobin attempted to clarify.
“No, not because of that.”
Yeonjun and Soobin meet the fall after they graduate from the same high school when Soobin picks up a part-time job at the worst coffee shop in town. Soobin is shy, sensitive, and quiet. Yeonjun is brash, loud, and guarded. Soobin's not Yeonjun's type. Soobin hates the Yeonjun from high school. So, why is Soobin the first person who catches Yeonjun when his life falls apart?

Quite possibly the best characterization of Yeonbin—consistent character storylines and such good growth 😩. I could eat this shiz for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and it still wouldn’t be enough 🔥. I absolutely adore how the author shows the progression of a crush and the descriptions of Yeonbin’s adoration for each other is top-tier 😩🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽
