The next words out of the stranger’s lips were the last thing he was expecting outside of the overthinking his brain decided to corner him with.
“Hey!! By any chance, could I have your number?!” the eccentric stranger asked, placing his elbows on the counter as he grinned at the teenager with something akin to excitement.
The barista instantly froze up in response to the question, a couple of different emotions flickering across his face before he settled on confusion. There was an awkward sound that slipped past his lips before a look that lacked amusement settled in his features and he scoffed gently.
“No way.”
Or, five times Midori gets hit on, and the one time he hits on Chiaki back.

When Scar was a child, seeing the strings had felt like a blessing.
He’d still been full of wonder, young and not yet burdened by the heartbreak of the world. It’d been marvellous to grow up like that, surrounded by dazzling bursts of colour. He’d been an easily amused baby, and Scar can only assume that he saw the colours even then, entertained by their shifting nature. The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

The room is too bright.
It’s quaint, in a nauseating sort of way. Polished floors glint from the gleaming honeycomb chandeliers overhead, make him squint. A few vases sprinkled here and there, filling the room with a sickeningly sweet scent – even a waffle-cone headrest framing the silken sheets of a neatly-tucked bed. Outside, the golden sun gleams, the gentle rays of light spilling past curtains that waver in the afternoon breeze.
It's meant to be beautiful. Luxurious. Welcoming.
