  2. Summary

This series is a collection of canon-compliant vignettes and short ficlets, exploring the everyday life Leon and Krauser could have had—bittersweet yet inescapably shaped by Operation Javier (2002) and the Los Illuminados incident (2004). Krauser has sinned, and atonement is inevitable. Leon, in turn, must defend not only a condemned man but also the one he loves—all while confronting his own fractured psyche. Fortunately, they still have each other.

I believe their bond is inseparable from the scars of Spain. More than shared trauma, that event made them each other’s executioner, entangling them in a cycle of betrayal, pain, and attachment. Without it, they might have been nothing more than a mercenary and an operative—or simple adversaries. But because of it, they became something more: two men bound by an unspoken epitaph.

Each piece in this series can be read as a standalone or as part of a larger, interwoven whole. While Krauser and Leon’s personalities differ greatly between the original and remake versions, I draw from all interpretations when writing. There are no strict rules here—readers are free to engage with them however they see fit.
