It was Pete’s time travel fortune telling whatever thing, and it brought future Patrick back to 2005! Which, to be fair, was a problem for future Patrick.
Now this is Patrick’s problem, and how ended up at- wherever he is. Whenever he is? Fucking hell, this is the kind of stuff he has to deal with now.

Pete turns twenty-one on a Thursday. He's off-planet by Saturday afternoon.
He takes a bag of old, sturdy clothes he'd carefully bought from the second hand stores near the port, a brand new datachip registered to as different a name as he had been able to convince the banking bot to accept and the expensive real paper notebook and ink pen his grandmother had given him for his birthday.
Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III vanishes on his way to class and Pete Lewis signs up as crew on the first interstellar trip that will take him.

He looks up and there’s glassy blue eyes looking at him. Pale skin made sheer by water and algae knotted into strawberry blonde hair. Water trickles from pink-blue lips and droplets trickle from the tip of a button nose. He’s maybe only a few years younger than Pete.
He’s terrifying.
He’s also beautiful.
Water rushes from the boy’s mouth when he speaks. “You can hear me. Stop pretending you can’t, asshole. Please.”

Or rather, the fic where Patrick is a ghost, Andy is a witch, Joe is a familiar, and Pete is learning a lot about supernatural shit in a very limited amount of time. Chaos ensues. And also boys are gonna kiss.

Andy deflates, takes a deep breath and says, “I saw some people in the audience at the show tonight. They're hunters and I'm like ninety percent sure they're following us right now.”
All the air gets sucked out of the car.
“Hunters?” Pete asks, “Wh- like, werewolf hunters?”
Andy nods.
“How do you know?” Joe demands, “Maybe you're wrong!”
Andy shakes his head, “They're family friends. That's why I recognize them.”
“I'm sorry,” Pete says, “Not only are we being hunted but you know the hunters!?”
“My family knows the hunters!” He yells back.
“Doesn't change the fact that we're being hunted!”
“Andy,” Patrick whispers, immediately shutting them up, “Are you sure?”
“I am.”
Patrick begins taking shaking, panicked breaths, before managing to get out, “I don't wanna die.”
Or, It's a full moon and the band is being chased by hunters. It gets intense.

“I’m serious, if you move you’re gonna mess me up. This is already - you know, I’m not promising you professional level here, it’s just - you’re gonna get - a braid, or something resembling one. Hopefully.”
“I wasn’t trying to move,” Pete mumbles - but his complaint is half-hearted at best. For a moment, he lets the weight of his head rest on Patrick’s hand, and then he shifts back to a more correct posture, and lowers his shoulders. “Anyways - back to how you were totally in love with me in high school-”
It tumbles out like a joke, like Pete’s not being serious at all so it shouldn’t matter - Pete wouldn’t laugh if he knew, so - Patrick’s long-held suspicions were right, and Pete, in fact, does not know.
Pete asks Patrick to braid his hair before a show, and the chat that happens while Patrick's playing with Pete's hair brings about some long overdue confessions.
