    Summary

People talk a lot about the physical and emotional impact on women during “that time of the month.” For Penelope Featherington, though, there’s an entirely separate portion of the month that hits her the hardest, and the symptoms she experiences are distinct from that other time. It’s a different sort of ache that settles low in her belly, a different form of discomfort driving her to cocoon herself in bed, and a different type of tenderness that envelopes her body and her mind. As time goes by, it’s only getting harder and harder to deal with on her own. If only she knew someone kind and handsome and trustworthy to help her through it…

    --

Or, Penelope experiences extreme horniness when she’s ovulating every month and Colin offers to sleep with her “as a friend.”

“Not to worry, my dear,” Varley said, patting Penelope’s hand gently. “This world is a cruel place, specifically for women, but you have people in your court who will protect you. That’s more than most have.”
Penelope gave Varley a wan smile. She appreciated the sentiment, but was it too much to ask for protection and love?

When Colin and Pen are forced to marry because of a misunderstanding, each find a reason to feel guilty. Penelope hates the idea that Colin will be forced to marry her out of duty rather than love, while Colin has just learned that the validity of their marriage will hinge on a barbaric centuries old wedding night tradition that Pen has no idea is coming.

    Summary

What if Penelope reacted differently when Colin accused her of trapping him?

Penelope ran away from the Ton, giving Colin what she thought he desperately wanted: his freedom. She loves him too much to allow him to be trapped in a loveless marriage with her.
Colin never expected to lose Penelope; his anger towards her pushed her to leave him, promising he would never have to see her again.

Thanks to the money she made as Lady Whisteldown, she fled to Greece, passing as a young widow named Anne Bridges. She is set to be a single mother and raise her child away from a society that never cared for her and from a father who would think the child is only a product of her "plan entrapment".

Thanks to the help of his brothers, Colin will do even the impossible to get his Pen back.

    Summary

Of course there were rumors perpetuated about Penelope Featherington and Eloise Bridgerton amongst the wagging tongues of the mamas and gossips. Nothing of substance, just nods and winks about the “two women of no relation” who lived together during the off season. Penelope recognized their rumors as fear based murmurings rather than anyone with a true axe to grind (or information to trade) and steadfastly refused to print them in Whistledown both because everything they were insinuating was untrue and also because the last thing she wanted to do was draw further attention to the truth of her situation, which was more complicated (and scandalous) than any of those mamas would have ever expected.
And if there was proof, it was staring Penelope right in the face in the form of her pristine white sheets.
