Clothes absolutely everywhere, as if Lestat had left not only his wardrobe but that of all his bandmates and half his groupies just scattered: constellations of sequins and fur and leather, high-heeled boots, a corset, jewelry. By his feet, Louis catches sight of a gold chain, trailing across the carpet like a river, like a snake in the grass.
“Are you coming in,” Lestat asks, as he strides past him into the room, “or not?”

There! Right there, a tall figure, the only one that’s standing still in this jumping, swaying crowd, the only one who doesn’t get jostled or bumped. Dark clothes, dark hair, those beady orange eyes.
Everything inside Daniel sings in recognition, and he starts forward, which is when Armand turns away, slipping in the direction of the exit, and fuck that!
Daniel lunges between the crush of bodies, reaches out, hooks his fingers in the back of Armand’s belt. Armand turns around, hair flying, wide-eyed, startled; Daniel isn’t buying any of it for a second.
“You said you did want me,” Daniel says over the roar and pulse of the stage; his fingers are still anchored behind that belt, but slipping, as Armand turns towards him.
“Yes. Very much.”
He says it so sadly and so coolly at the same time. He’s doing that uber-composed thing, where he’s lacquered over with varnish and polish and glass. Vibrant and vivid and fucking fascinating but… untouchable. Unreachable. Unknown.
Or: 5 times Daniel couldn't catch Armand, post-turning, +1 (so many) time(s) he did.
