Logically speaking, there was no reason the two of them couldn’t spend the entire night thoroughly conceiving their first child. Summary
Sunlight dappled across the forest floor, over the beaten dirt path. Xie Lian had collected scraps here some odd four hundred years after his second ascension, and it was nice to see how time had shaped the earth. The trees, mere saplings when he last wandered their domain, towered high enough to blot the clouds, as if seeking the heavens themselves. Wildflowers raced along the trail, bursts of color so vivid against the shady foliage.
Unfortunately, this visit hadn’t been the sentimental sort. Someone had prayed in one of his temples, begging him to come and save the young women in her village. Apparently, they’d been wandering out into the woods and never coming home. Only two bodies had been recovered, naked and covered in unexplainable bruises.
