"Aww, cheers mate," Charles said after a moment, having paused to open the door for a glaring Crystal. "I think you did a pretty bang-up job yourself."
"Oh my god, you two, get a room, please," Crystal moaned at them, throwing her bag down tiredly. "Might as well call him a good boy and rip each other's clothes off, while you're at it."

Summary
In Edwin’s defense, he didn’t mean to fall for a couple. It’d be a really stupid thing to do, in his line of work.
People come into the flower shop all of the time, but the number of people who don’t ask his advice, just grab for whatever flowers look pretty, and then head along home with no idea that they have a handful of bitter-rejection and infidelity clutched in their hands, is honestly absurd.
So it makes sense that he would fall for the only people to ask him for his advice on the very subject he was trained in, those years he spent living in Japan with Niko.
There is something about these two. Something about Charles Rowland and Monty Finch and the way that they both care. The way that Charles smiles when he asks Edwin for a specific flower meaning, the way that Monty’s earnestness bleeds through his snarkiness when he asks for a flower than means enduring love.
None of his classmates could ever appreciate the sweet curve of a lily, the blossom of a tulip, the way that saxifrage bursts beautiful in its ability to survive harsh mountain weather.
But Charles and Monty?
They do.
They make him see the city not as clash of metal and concrete and gas, but rather, as a garden.

“There is an elf. On my shelf,” Captain Holt pronounces. It’s entirely possible he sounds more aggrieved than usual - Jake can never tell. Amy’s frowning though, and as the leading inhouse expert on all things Holt, she’s most likely frowning because he’s unhappy. Or she could be frowning because she just remembered she forgot to floss that morning.
“I didn’t put it there,” says Amy.
“ - Name of your sex tape!” Jake says, because it’s basically a reflex at this point, like punctuation, except he doesn’t use punctuation so that’s a bad example. Scratch that analogy! But the point remains.
Amy’s biting her lip. Maybe it’s the floss thing after all.
“You misunderstand,” says Captain Holt. “I placed the elf on my shelf.” There is a long pause. “His name is Jingles,” Captain Holt offers, as if this will clarify proceedings.
Jake blinks. Twice.
