Something was wrong. She could feel it in her bones, in every fibre of her being. It made her want to scream every time that Nathalie told her everything was okay. Her face would pinch when Emilie would say that "somebody is missing", but still she told her nothing.
Whenever she looked at Gabriel, revulsion filled her, so strong it was almost suffocating, bile rising in her throat. "Something is wrong." She insisted. Nobody heard her.

Summary
There are no actual vampires in this story.
This is a story about Kate who is sent to England against her will, separated from her family, and forced into an arranged marriage. She has so little for herself, so she takes what she can. She makes up worlds in her head and one particular fantasy is about the brooding Viscount Bridgerton. Years later she has the chance to meet him and there is instant chemistry. (Also, there is a healthy serving of smut.)

“Shall I sketch it for you?” she asked him softly, a sly half smile breaking out across her lips.
“Hmm?” he responded. Kate laughed quietly at the fact that hmm was not quite a word he could add to his limited vocabulary.
“Shall I sketch my face, for you to stare at later?” she clarified.
With a low growl, Lord Bridgerton bent forward and resumed their frenzied kiss.
This is new, Kate thought to herself, his taste. She had never been kissed like this, with saliva and tongue and lips and biting. Biting. This is how a vampire consumes his lover, she thought.

Rain pattered softly against the window as distant rumblings of thunder ran their course across the country outside. Kate barely heard it, her eyes so focused on the man standing before her.
“It was humbling, to say the least…” he said, his voice trailing off.
Something about that night, that room, and that setting, set Kate at ease. She thought perhaps it was the gentle candlelight in the library, or the man before her dressed only in trousers and shirt, his hair rough from sleep. They weren’t Miss Sharma and Lord Bridgerton here, they were Kate and Anthony.
