He could blame it on hormones for only so long. Even then, it was a stretch to begin with, but he managed to believe the white lie for about a year and half.
There was a particular reason (it had to do with hormones and that pretty little lie) but if he admitted to it, he would see that he was being a dramatic teenager and that it wasn’t as bad as he thought it might be. If he admitted to it, that would make it tangible, not just an itch at the back of his mind or a swell of heat in his stomach.
Granted, now wasn’t the best time to be considering himself, because Aizawa had just kicked him in the stomach, and he should’ve been able to dodge it.(or, shinsou is kind of falling for his teacher and won't admit it, does something impulsive and stupid that ends up being one of the few mistakes that ends up paying off.)

"You ready to show what you learned?" Aizawa asks, a small smirk playing around his mouth, clearly already looking forward to this, but Hitoshi can't find the humour in this situation.
There is only one thought in his mind.
"This is it, isn't it?" he gets out and Aizawa's eyes narrow. "When I lose this, you'll drop me and then I'll be done."
"Hitoshi, what—"
"I'll lose this and you'll realise what a waste of time all of this has been and then that's it," Hitoshi goes on, his voice almost without inflection and the frown on Aizawa's face only deepens.

"No?" Aizawa asks, clearly caught off guard by his refusal and Hitoshi refuses to meet his eyes.
"I'm not—no. Local anaesthesia or I'm not doing it."
"Are you allergic?" the doctor wants to know and flips through Hitoshi's file.
"He's not. What's going on, Hitoshi?" Aizawa wants to know but Hitoshi can't look at him.

Summary
Katsuki watches. He watches and sees; sees how Aizawa's eyes linger on Shinsou. Sees how he pays him special attention even beyond the scope of a personal student. Sees how sometimes Shinsou is clearly reluctant to be alone with Aizawa. Sees how sometimes Shinsou and Aizawa leave the school together and there are days where Shinsou seems to be okay with it, walking alongside Aizawa but sometimes he walks a step behind him and it seems as if he's being forced to go with him.
Katsuki sees and he worries.
