Summary
In which the Paladins have been taken hostage by a Galran ship after being ambushed at a customary Balmera check-up. Lance is dragged to interrogation by the Lieutenant General, and to Lance’s horror the Lieutenant takes off his mask to reveal a mullet, some new scars and a very confused Keith Kogane.
Keith has been missing for a year on a vital mission that nobody on Voltron was informed about, and to hell if Lance isn’t going to do whatever it takes to bring him back to Allura’s ship. Lance has been holding onto gossamer threads to keep himself from missing Keith, and his repression is running ridiculously thin. It’s time to do something about wanting Keith back, and if that means performing mission impossible, then bring it on.

Lance is so far in denial this story could be set in Egypt, Coran is my favourite cockblock and Lance and Keith have a very strange way of showing each other they care.

Keith hasn’t seen Lance in months. He hasn’t spoken to Lance in months.
So the universe working in mysterious ways to remind Keith of Lance’s voice, appearance, essence, light, is some sort of bittersweet, fucked up thing to do. And to do it in front of his mom? Shameless.
Keith’s stuck in the Quantum Abyss with this woman who turns out to be his mom. With each flashback shown, they grow closer together, but Keith’s still avoiding the topics he’s most afraid of. Flashbacks of Lance only make it harder.

“I’ve managed.”
Slowly, Lance sighs. His lips purse, and his posture seems to melt a little bit.
“I know,” he breathes out in a sort of extended way, before looking Keith in the eyes. “But you're okay with that?”
“...What?” Keith asks. Lance shrugs.
“Just managing? I mean, don’t you want something better? Like, who says oh man, I just can’t wait to grow up and tolerate the rest of my life? The answer is nobody. Nobody says that, Keith. Because it’s sad.”
