"EXTRACT"
Getting on all fours and using the wall for support, he pushed himself up off the floor and went to the sink. His body was shaking, his throat ached, and there was a constant pressure in his chest. He looked in the mirror and noticed a slight bruise on his cheekbone, and the imprint of a hand was clearly visible on his neck. Damn! He still had two hours of his shift left; how the hell was he going to hide this? He closed his eyes and tried to inhale, but the pain in his stomach stabbed in, causing him to wince slightly.
“I’m okay, I’m okay,” he whispered to himself. “Everything will be okay,” he knew he was lying to himself the moment a sob escaped his mouth. He inhaled once more, ignoring the pain, wiped the tears from his face, and straightened his uniform.

"Running ... in those moments, the only thing he could do to survive was run.
It wasn’t the first time he had really done it, but this time he knew that if he didn't run until his legs could no longer support the weight of his body and stumble to the ground, he would not be alive.
It was one of the things that his brother Merle had taught him before he went to prisión for selling cocaine almost five years ago. "Runnin’ and hunting with yer crossbow is the only thing that will keep yer ass alive, baby brotha," his brother said as he slapped him on the shoulder. And he was right"Series

Summary
"You," Buck sucks in a shaky breath and reminds himself that he knows what real love is now, that he never again needs to settle for some cheap imitation, "You never loved me. You don't hit the people you love. You don't send them to the hospital with broken bones and blood loss and concussions."
Buck recognizes the twitch in Kyle's jaw, knows he's pushing, knows that now is the time that he's supposed to make himself small and apologize and promise to do better.
But he's not that man anymore.

Summary
"Talk to me." Eddie encourages, his voice gentle and low.
Buck chews the insides of his cheeks, his leg bouncing; he clears his throat and gives a tiny, barely there shrug. "I— uh, I'm— I'm having trouble sleeping…lately."
Eddie's brows gather and he tilts his head. "Nightmares?"
"Uh, kinda? I— I don't know." Buck shakes his head as he lets out a bitter, empty chuckle. "I guess I'm—" He clears his throat again, hoarse voice cracking at the last word and god he sounds so broken. "I'm scared of not waking up."
Eddie's tone is soft and gentle when he asks, his heart skips a beat against his chest. "What if I stay with you?"

Summary
He opens his eyes again, knowing that when he looks back to his best friend they are wet and teary, when Buck weakly tangles their fingers together and squeezes.
He's not anywhere near being back to his full strength yet, but to Eddie it's the most grounding touch he's had since the lightning struck.
“Buck, if you had died, you would have taken me with you.”
He didn’t look Buck in the eye when he said it. How could he? It was the deepest, darkest truth that had been swirling in his head from the second he’d heard them shout that Buck was unresponsive. It was the most vulnerable thing Eddie had ever said to his best friend. Buck had watched him break down when Shannon died, had heard every thought and concern and decision making process for raising Christopher, listened to Eddie’s quiet whispers of things he didn’t say to anyone else, kept him together when he emotionally snapped and destroyed his own bedroom. Buck knew Eddie inside and out in a way no one ever had before.
But this?
This was his entire soul truly laid bare for Buck to see.
------
Eddie makes a few confessions to get Buck to truly understand how important he is.
