    Summary

“And there is no way to lift the curse?”
Hans winced. “Technically, there is, but it's just easier to assume that there isn't.”
    “What is it?” Henry pushed.
Hans was scratching at his sleeve. “It's true love's kiss.”
Henry blinked. “Well, that's easy, just tell me who it is and I'll bring them to you.”
Hans stared at him for a second before his lips slowly stretched into a sad, mocking smile. “Henry,” he said quietly, “Do you really think there is a single person on this planet who loves me?”

    Fairytale/Swan Princess/Swan Lake AU

Henry and Hans are supposed to marry, even if they have done little else than hate each other with a burning passion since the very first time they met as children. They still agree to the wedding for the sake of their families and even seem to despise one another a bit less, when Hans gets kidnapped and put under a spell that it seems only Henry can help him with.

Can be read as a standalone.

    Summary

Henry spurred Pebbles just slightly, enough to let their hoofbeats fall into sync.

“You missed the turn,” he called out, voice calm but purposeful.

    Hans didn’t answer.

    Henry furrowed his brow, “Hans-“

    “I know.”

Henry’s stomach dipped. Something in the way Hans said it set every nerve on edge.

“We’re not going back to Rattay.”

    Henry blinked. “What?”

Hans turned to face him, slowing Cabullus with a gentle tug of the reins. His posture was straighter than usual, jaw tight but steady, and his eyes were clearer than Henry had seen in weeks.

“I said, we’re not going back,” Hans repeated. “I’ve made up my mind.”

    ---

    Hans and Henry run away.

Set post-KCD2 and contains major spoilers for the game.

    Summary

Slowly rain began to fall, a few droplets hitting Henry’s legs where they dangled outside of the cover above them. “You are Henry of Skalitz. Hero of Bohemia. My best friend. A man very passionate about making sword deliveries and lover to many a wench.”

For the first time that night, the corner of Henry’s lips twitched up. “It’s not that many wenches.”

Hans lifted and turned his head, a smile warming his face that was contagious as everything was with Hans Capon. “Sorry, lover to a few wenches.”

Henry’s shoulder untensed, the nightmares fading into the ground beneath them, drowning in the puddles forming with the rain’s growing intensity. Hans didn’t seem to care about the side of him getting wet as the wind blew the droplets onto them. He was focused, staring at Henry like he was a special star in the sky and Henry wished so solemnly he could be everything Hans saw him as.

    Summary

Water dripped from the hair plastered to their foreheads, barely noticed as it fell onto their already soaked shoulders. Hans’ face burned as he looked up to the small ceiling-like covering above them. “Well, better this than catch the cold.”

Henry’s laugh was warm against his cheek, “You look like a wet cat.”

Hans’ eyes snapped back to Henry. “You take that back right now, yokel.”

Henry’s smile lit the space between them and that familiar ache he had felt all day in his chest felt like stabbing pain. “It’s even worse when you’re mad. You get all puffed up.”

“I do not-” Hans shuffled where he stood, squaring his shoulders until he realized it only pushed him further into contact with Henry. “You smell like a wet dog.”

The corner of Henry’s lip twitched higher, “Yeah?”

Hans’ reply, meant to be stern and assured, came out as a softly spoken whisper, “Yeah.”

The Devil's Den harbored many secrets, poorly kept and air-tight alike. Hans hoped every glance he spared to Henry was locked away in a little box inside his chest – hidden and far enough away that nobody could see how much he was choking on his own want.
