There's another set of knocks, softer, weaker perhaps, but with the same amount of space between each one, the same person then.
Eames positions his pistol along the line of his leg, thumb on the safety as he slides toward the front door. He keeps himself to the side so that his body can't block the light, tipping off whoever is out there that he's approached. It's just when he's stretching, body flush to the wall, so he can take the quickest peek through his peephole, that there's another thud, this time singular, hollow, followed by a muttered but just audible "Eames," and Eames feels his blood go cold.

“You and Arthur,” she starts, and then realises she has no idea how to finish this. She pauses, Dom has stopped mid-awful joke he’d been telling to Yusuf, and is staring at her with a look of dawning horror.
“You and Arthur?” she tries, hoping it’s self-explanatory.
Eames’ face has gone very still. Then he smiles, slow and dark; the kind of smile that gets him into people’s safes and then into their beds.
“Wouldn’t you like to know,” he says, and Ariadne has absolutely no idea what to do with that.
