Summary
Hen is the first to sense something off. "You're not eating?" she says.
"Oh," Buck says, grabbing a roll. "I, uh."
"It's not poisoned, is it," Chim says with a snicker. He doesn't stop using his fork as a shovel.
Buck doesn't know what to do with that. He just comes out with it. "Today is my last shift. I'm taking some time off. Um. A few months, at least."
Someone drops their fork. "Whoa," Ravi says.

Buck goes on a road trip. A story of reconnection.

Summary
Escaping from Interment Camp 371 back to the Alpha Quadrant, Garak and Doctor Julian Bashir find themselves temporarily stranded on Brax, waiting for repairs. Their hosts are friendly, even if the universal translator struggles with their language, and it seems only polite to participate in a charming local festival.

"Well," Garak said brightly, keeping his smile on his face, even though Bashir couldn't see it, thinking of the jar Bashir had dipped his finger into. "This is awkward."
"I should've been more careful," said Bashir. "Oh, well, it's not too bad. It's not as if this isn't something that happens all the time. We had a seminar on it first year of Academy. You've accidentally married someone in an alien ceremony, what next? It's not like we intend to stay here." Bashir flopped back on the bed, damp tunic and all, and looked up at him. "I feel less worried about getting back in time than I should. I don't know if I'm just too tired, or it's something about this place. Oh, well. Let's discuss it in the morning." He pulled his long bare legs up and shuffled around into a more comfortable position, facing away from Garak. "Go to sleep."

Summary
“What’s this?” Garak picks up the packet from the tray of equipment that Julian has offered him.
“It’s called a condom, 003,” Julian says, throwing heavy emphasis on both syllables.
Garak inspects it as though he’s never seen one. “Does it explode?”
Julian sighs. Garak is clearly enjoying himself. “If you over-fill it.” Behind him, someone chokes on a laugh. “Really, 003, if you don’t know how to use it, you should familiarize yourself. Wouldn’t want His Majesty’s most vital organ to come down with the clap.”
---
The one where Garak is 003 and decides that the best way to express his feelings to Julian is to...seduce a lot of people. On camera.

Genetic augmentation is unpredictable. Sometimes, some combination of genes from some combination of species results in an ability that no one ever expected. Too often, the results are death and destruction.
And then there's Julian Bashir.

Summary
Julian doesn't think about it much these days. Why should he, when it's been so long?
But when he does, if he does, well—he considers it part and parcel of Garak, that's all. Disconcerting at first, a little invasive. Awfully close to a line but not quite crossing it, and leaving Julian with absolutely no idea what he's meant to do in response. Garak in microcosm, summarized in a single unexpected gesture.
(Or: Julian has always thought Garak just had a weird little habit. Until another Cardassian does the same thing to him, and seems to imbue the gesture with a meaning Julian really had not anticipated.)
