Ciel expected Sebastian to bid him goodnight, or perhaps to offer to stand guard, but he did neither. Sebastian set his candelabra down on Ciel’s bedside table, expression thoughtful. “Young master, you have quite the busy day tomorrow, and I sense you’re unlikely to have an uninterrupted night of sleep.”
“You almost let me forget,” muttered Ciel.
“There is one thing you haven’t tried to stave off the nightmares.”
“Which is?”
Sebastian nodded to the white rabbit plush which took after Sebastian's own self in Ciel’s arms. “Why not let the real thing comfort you as well?”
Ciel would have normally put up more of a fuss, but the glimmer of hope of being able to sleep the entire night through was enough to immediately suppress any argument. That, and he spent a remarkable amount of time in Sebastian’s arms already. Whatever intimacy was between them, it had transcended neat and tidy ideas long ago anyway. “Fine."

Steve tried not to panic.
He trusted Bucky. He did, with his life, with his heart. But the part of his mind that always seemed to win, the dark, insecure part, was telling him that Bucky had found someone better. That he had left Steve or was planning to. He knew Bucky needed space but he tried not to worry Bucky by shying away from him. He did all the ordinary things – worked on his art, went on missions and had dates with Bucky, but he was slowly dying inside.
One night he had a panic attack after Bucky’s call.
Another night he had a nightmare that Bucky had died and never came back.
Last night, he had a dream where Bucky was getting married to someone else.

He takes a deep breath and sighs it all out again. It's easier to do this without having to see her face. “It's my birthday,” he confesses.
To her credit, she doesn't immediately respond with some inanity about it being a happy occasion. It's never been particularly happy for Sanji. Not before he met Zeff and the two of them sort of inadvertently adopted each other, and not after, when it was nothing but a reminder of a painful past he'd rather have forgotten.
“Birthdays can be difficult,” she says, instead.
