“Alexei?”
Four things run through Alexei’s mind in rapid succession, in order of importance.
First: So whoever's in that locker is new, then. Even breathing too loudly in a locker is a rookie mistake, much less speaking. That could and likely would cost them the match.
Second, whoever’s in that locker knows his name. Hardly anyone in the Mist knows his name. He’s not intent on sharing it, knowing that it could get him caught by the agency if he ever gets out of here.
Third, he knows their voice.
Fourth, and this is the one he says aloud- really, it’s the only conclusion he can draw with the first three in mind- "Kiat?"

Or: The Mist finds Kiat, and Kiat finds Alexei, but in the moment Kiat doesn't register that they don't belong to the same side in the game they're forced to play.
Alexei can't let him find out.
