“Why aren't you talking to Sharon?”
It had been a long day, and Sam knew Bucky didn’t want to talk about it. But once the tension started affecting missions, it had to be dealt with.
“Well hello, Captain America. I'm doing great, thanks for asking. Oh no, please sit down.”
Sam laughed, “Cut the crap, this is my house. I'll sit where I want”
“Your house now? Well then let me just-” Bucky puts his hands on his legs and motioned to get up. He didn’t actually go anywhere. They both knew he wouldn't.
Neither of them wanted to talk about it, it seemed. And suddenly, there was the tension. The same angry silence that hung between Bucky and Sharon a couple hours ago had snuck right into their living room.
“Bucky.” Sam tried to sound gentle, he really did. The anger wasn’t meant for him, even if Bucky was directing it at him right now.
“Samuel.”
“James.”

Summary
Sam was not Steve.
Bucky was watching him taking pictures with all the people from his hometown - and it was something that should have felt like all those dumb shows they made Steve put on but this was different. Sam wasn't acting. He wasn't figuring out the role. He was as comfortable in this space - with his arms wrapped around a woman who'd probably watched him grow up and laughing at "her Captain America" as he was suited up with his shield and wings.
His shield. Bucky took a second to let the weight of it settle on him. It was Sam's shield now. In a way it hadn't been before.

Summary
Stede Bonnet's love life is completely non-existent and an utter tragedy to behold - At least, according to those closest in his life.
Thus they're compelled to do what any group comprised of an ex-wife, co-workers turned friends through sheer proximity, and assorted significant others of aforementioned co-workers turned friends would do: Set up five blind dates that Stede Bonnet has no choice but to go on.
Stede keeps on showing up ridiculously early to these dates, but at least the bartender is friendly.

“I just meant— your bed,” Ed tries to amend. “You made it up for me. Us, I mean.” He motions with the hand he’s not winding up with Stede’s. “Two pillows.”
Stede’s heart launches into his throat, because he’d actually entirely forgotten that point. He’d made the bed himself this way since returning to the ship; it hasn’t been long, but— Ed’s been here. He’s had hope the entire time, even if he wasn’t verbalizing it.
Well. Wasn’t always verbalizing it.
“You made it up for both of us,” Ed comments into Stede’s semi-panicked quiet. “How’d you know I’d say yes?”
The truth comes so easily. With Ed, now, it feels like everything hard is easy, even if it’s still hard. “I didn’t.” He repeats, a bit firmer, “I didn’t know.”
Ed’s fingers, tangled with his, squeeze.
