Summary
There was always a certain shift that happened in Batman whenever he talked to kids that were hurt or scared.
He would speak more softly, maybe even kneel down in front of them to personally assure them that they were safe now. It made sense, Tim thought, to not want to intimidate those that he was supposed to be protecting.
And, it made sense on a deeper level too because Batman wasn’t just Batman, he was Bruce Wayne, and had only been a kid himself when he watched his parents die. He knew what it was like to be scared, to be upset, to be hurting.
But Tim Drake is not a child, he never has been. Sure, he was hurt and bleeding, and could very well be dying, but it wasn't like he deserves to have Batman speak to him so softly. Then again, this was what Tim always wanted, wasn't it?

He knew from experience what could happen if he raised his voice any higher than normal at his father.
‘Just as I thought. You’ve gained weight boy-o. And not the good kind.’ Spitelout's voice slurred slightly.

Summary
While he and the other riders are visiting Berk, they find out a man who did unspeakable things to Snotlout as a child has been released from exile. Snotlout just wants to go back to the Edge where he feels safe, but Angus Johnson hasn’t forgotten about him.
When Angus kidnaps Snotlout to remind him of that fact, Hiccup comes to his rescue and he doesn’t know how to feel. He’s only ever gotten through these things alone. But maybe having a shoulder to cry on and someone to confide in isn’t so bad after all.
