Yoru recognised the minor slight for what it was, but he wasn’t self-conscious enough to be affected. Why would the words of a stranger who knew absolutely nothing about him be enough to provoke his temper? “How admirable, should I give you a gold star for effort?”
“I’d rather have information.” Lilac responded without missing a beat, face scrunching as he turned the full force of his attention onto Yoru. He shivered under the heady weight, entire body buzzing like he’d been hit with one of KAY/O’s suppressive knives.
“You’re the Riftwalker, aren’t you?” It wasn’t worded as a question so much as a statement of fact, and Yoru felt as though someone had poured ice down his shirt at the sound of his moniker coming from an outsider. “I’ve heard much about you.”

They need to think we’re loyal dogs, so come on, let me fix that atrocious tie of yours and we’ll be on our way. It’s just one evening, you’ll survive Yoru.”
Sure, I know I’ll survive this. Yoru thought sardonically as his gaze fell upon an empty space in the crowd, deliberately ignoring the stare burning into his cranium like a gun pressed to his head. But the same can’t be said for anyone else if that bastard’s here.
Because even across the room, dressed to the nines in expensive clothing way above Yoru’s paygrade, he could feel the beast’s eyes raking over his body obsessively, leaving blossoms of heat in its wake. They flicked up to his Adam’s apple with each swallow, before trailing down over his chest, his hips and lower still, and Yoru could feel the weight of the man’s stare like phantom hands over his body, applying an uncomfortable kind of pressure as they roved over his clothed form.
