Her cheeks, along with the tip of her nose, are still pinkened from the cold. Strands of her hair lay disarrayed and windswept. Her toes curl and uncurl inside her socks, feet idly kicking along the floor.
Mizuki must still be staring, because Ena’s eyes narrow at her. “Were you waiting behind the door the entire time?”
“Maybe I just wanted to surprise you. A surprise welcome, you could say,” she teases, because it’s better than admitting that she had been doing exactly that, overcome by nervous excitement for tonight.
She needs to get herself together. Come on, Mizuki. Ena’s always been this pretty. It shouldn’t be any different now, even if it is because Ena is in her house for the first time.
Or: Having recently started dating, Mizuki and Ena have their first sleepover (among other firsts).
