Kokichi never had to think much as soon as school let out. Not with Amami there. It honestly should have been scary, though, how eager his mind was to just click off. The vigilance was gone, and maybe that should be a bad thing as Amami gently pulled him along through the train station, down the road, into their apartment building, his hand soft and warm and ever-present in his.
"Little ones like you shouldn't be out running around in the dark, after all."
Kokichi has some complicated things on his mind one night while Amami helps him get ready for bed.

Summary
The sixteenth time he watches her die, he has long since built the tolerance to sit through the whole episode (even the gorey pink part), and he knows the terrible crashing notes of Danganronpa’s “Der Flohwalzer” just like he knows her voice—every little wave of sound, from both broadcasts. But still when the collar clasps and pulls, he finds tears running from his eyes anyways, something he can accept might never go away. At the same time, even while biting the side of his tongue and pursing his lips in anguish, his mouth turns up into a smile for no reason at all.
It never gets less painful, but the pain gets less ruinous. It becomes bearable, acceptable, desirable, and even if it’s still pain, it’s something he can finally welcome. Now he seeks it out.
