Summary
I wasn't sure exactly what I was expecting walking into Dumbledore's office alongside all of the other rightful champions chosen to play in this, mostly likely dangerous game of sorts, but it wasn't rushing out, embarrassed, stumbling over myself, trying to push down the fact that I was clearly catching feelings for someone unexpected. Especially not a sixth year. Especially not a boy. Especially not Cedric Diggory.

Summary
Severus Snape knows he can't do this on his own. He's not even The Chosen One. No, that role got given to Harry Potter of all people, and Snape still can't let go of a grudge. Maybe it's because he saw the love of his life die, and James Potter wasn't strong enough—I guess, neither was he—to save her. Severus Snape is now wondering "why?" He can't go to Albus Dumbledore, the one person who he thought he could always trust, and now the one person who would kill him if he knew. The only friend Snape has is Narcissa Malfoy, but how far will she go with him? He's the only one willing to take the risks needed, but Potter keeps messing everything up. Of course he does, it just has to go that way. Now Snape is in the middle of an internal battle with himself, trying to figure out how this all ends, and fixing every mistake that Harry Potter makes. And trust him, there are a lot.
