    Luz Noceda was always considered odd. Well, odd is an understatement. Crazy, clinically insane, a schizo, and batshit insane were common titles she’d been given throughout her life. Eventually, it got to the point where even her own mother turned against her it seemed. After a violent fight between Luz and a school faculty member, Camilla Noceda decides to send the girl off to a therapy facility.
    Luz waits for the bus to pick her up, but she finds that she never was able to board the vehicle to the oppressive prison she’d been condemned to. Instead she follows a magical owl named Owlbert when her book is stolen to the land of the Boiling Isles where she must first reclaim her book from the area’s most powerful witch, Eda Clawthorne. Luz gains the witch’s respect and friendship through similar circumstances.
    In this strange new land Luz will discover more about her own origins and why she is not normal, and she gets to fight big monsters with big badass swords so what’s not to love?
    A.K.A. Basically a Devil May Cry AU for The Owl House. You don't need to know ANYTHING about the DMC series, either, as this doesn't use canon from it only themes and it's Smokin' Sexy Style.

    Krul is conducting yet another one of her infamous experiments that the two city guards, Lacus and René, refuse to have any play in for fear of losing their lives like her previous unfortunate subjects. Their initial rejection was respected, and the offer and rewards dropped, as it had been their choice after all.

    Until it hadn't.

    With the threat of becoming prisoners, thus unwilling guinea pigs doomed for all eternity, hanging over their heads, they are forced from their home to act as her main subjects to something heinous. Something taboo. But the experiment backfires, fortunately however leaving them both unharmed. Or so they thought, before one of them collapses on their way back home after showing deadly symptoms of an experiment gone horribly wrong.

    René is human now, and it is up to Krul to formulate a cure before the taboo reaches the collective ear of the council and they are all brought to judgment. Meanwhile René is hidden well away in her castle battling emotions, urges and human desires he hadn't experienced in over 200 years, all in the presence of a blood-lusting vampire and a half-breed who begrudgingly sympathizes with him.
