He hesitates a moment longer, savoring the fear, before he steps forward. His own wings flick out with a snap, span broad, and there’s a small mist of loose blood that perfumes the air around him. His boots are near silent on the tiles, smearing their steps across the pristine sheen. “Look at this,” he says, smiling as he takes them in. “You’re all early!
