She creeps towards the corpse, taking it by the hand. She has never done this before, but she has done something similar– something only a few steps away from it. She lays down beside it, curling herself into a ball on her side. She stares into its glassy blue eyes. His glassy blue eyes. She has spent so long in the genderless maul of the morgue, that she forgets that it isn’t just a corpse that he is a person. Was a person--will be a person if she manages to get this right.
