He stayed in the redhead’s room for hours, consoling him and giving him a shoulder to cry on. He canceled training with Izuku to get Kirishima back on his feet. He pushed back their dates to cook dinner for him. He disregarded Izuku’s texts to spend time with him.
And Izuku, tragically, understood.
As the first petal tumbled from his busted lips after returning from patrol one March evening in their third year, he understood perfectly.

Summary
Katsuki’s feet shuffled towards the quaint little café, like a moth to a flame. Involuntary, but deadly. He wasn’t supposed to—orders from others but also for his own sake. He wasn’t supposed to bring anything to him that would possibly jog any buried memories. Nothing from a battlefield, and definitely not his explosively blond hair and his burning red eyes.
He’s also not supposed to break his heart all over again, but maybe his self-destructive patterns never stopped.
OR
Post-war, Izuku was given the option to forget his old life as a hero and live a new life, that being a coffee shop owner in the middle of nowhere.
No heroes. No villains. No Kacchan.
Years down the line, Katsuki pays him a visit. While new memories brew themselves over a pumpkin spiced latte, old ones may start to rear their ugly head.
