Summary
[Time passes oddly. Between one second and the next, Sokka has the Fire Lord pinned to the wall with his hands around the bastard’s throat. Golden eyes (one gold eye, his mind whispers) widen in shock.
“Sokka?” he chokes out. And then he smiles.
What the fuck?
“Sokka, I—”
Sokka slams his head against the wall, once, twice, and the smile wipes off his face. Good.
“What,” Sokka bites out, “have you done to my sister?”]
Or:
An injury leaves Sokka with amnesia. His last memory is of the failed invasion, of leaving his father behind in enemy territory on the Day of Black Sun. Of hopelessness. Rage.
But then he wakes up, and the war is over. Suddenly, he must come to terms with the fact that years have passed, and that he's somehow the Southern Water Tribe Ambassador to the Fire Nation. He is also supposedly friends with banished-Prince-turned-Fire-Lord Zuko, of all people. Close friends.
Yeah, nah.

Summary
[“—because then you’ll never actually be disappointed?”
MJ wonders, briefly, if the tap-dancers prancing about her grave are doing so in lead shoes, and whether they'll end up wearing through the dirt and squelching across her corpse. At this rate, seems likely.
Do I know you, she wants to ask.
She’s sure the answer is no. What else can it be, right? She’s sure she’d have remembered him. There’s something about this boy—about Peter Parker—that feels different than the average customer, the average classmate, the average New Yorker. There’s something in his eyes that speaks of knowing. She’d have remembered that.
They can’t have met before. She’s sure. She’s sure.]
Two ships in the night. How long, before they collide?

[“Morning, sweetheart.”
Sokka’s gaze stays clouded, like he hasn’t even heard. Zuko sighs, gently running his hand along Sokka’s temple.
So, it’s going to be one of those days, then.]

Summary
The crack echoes through the room. His knees hit the ground in prostration, in penance.
(His mouth runs with warm iron. It will soon become a familiar taste.)
“Pathetic,” says his father from high on above. “I should have drowned you at birth.”
I’m sorry, he thinks, but doesn’t dare say.
He knows it would only come out wrong.
The first time he tastes the back of his father’s hand, he is five. It is not the last.

Summary
Zuko only barely resists flinching again when Sokka grabs his frozen hand in his broader, warmer one and presses the binoculars into his palm. “Come on, dude. You wanted to see them. I’ve seen them plenty. Have a look.”
Tentatively, Zuko peers through the lenses. At his first clear glimpse of the tiny seabirds, he sucks in a cold breath.
“I thought they’d be bigger,” he whispers, following one bird with his eyes until it flits away faster than he can track, then choosing another one.
“They’re each only about a pound or less,” Sokka says. “Hardy little guys, though. They live at sea for two years as fledglings before ever setting foot on land.”
Sokka must have already said all this on the ride, and he’s repeating it for Zuko’s benefit. It doesn’t have the air of a rehearsed speech, though. Sokka sounds genuinely impressed.
Zuko is foolishly, recklessly, a little bit in love.

Summary
When James Kirk was five, his mother gave him a pack of coloured pens. She explained what they were for, and how he shouldn’t get his hopes up too much for a reply. After all, he was only a little boy...
Every human being experiences the Echoes - images that appear on your skin when your soul-mate chooses to draw or write on themselves. Everyone, that is, except James Kirk. Gone his whole life without a single Echo, Jim cannot stop wondering what might have become of his soul-mate. And why they never wrote back to him...

Summary
Two months into his captaincy, Jim comes to a startling realization: he's deathly afraid of his first officer. Spock, meanwhile, starts to develop a crush.
"Jim's afraid of Spock" sounds terribly angsty, but this is mostly rom com with hints of angst and horror. Updates every Tuesday.
